In her coastal studio, about 15 nautical miles away from the breathtaking Great Barrier Reef, Petra draws inspiration from the surrounding waters as she creates mixed-media artworks.
Her approach rarely follows conventional art methods; instead, she has developed techniques that produce a variety of effects strongly reminiscent of reef formations and the ocean. The texture of her work corresponds to exposed reefs and rocks, with the fluid paint representing the water. The spray bottle symbolizes the power of nature, akin to rain; the hair dryer mimics the wind; the blowtorch stands for the sun; and tilting the board back and forth represents the tide.
Petra continuously ventures into different methods and tools, always remaining in a learning process as she continues her experiments.
